Brandy Review #47: Nusbaumer Kirsch Cherry Brandy
About the Producer
The Nusbaumer distillery is one of the more esteemed producers of eau-de-vies out there. It was established in 1947 by Joseph Nusbaumer in the Alsace region of France. Unfortunately there are very few details about the distillery itself out there but their website makes a point of the fact that they have 15 employees with an average experience level of 30yrs, highlighting the level of experience they have.
In addition to the more standard pear, cherry and plum brandies the distillery also produces some more specialty products like raspberry, black current and cumin spirits.

Nose
Sweet and tart with cherries, obviously. Tiniest hint of lemon-line soda. Medium sweetness and medium intensity. Smells like a clean distillate and does a good job of capturing the aroma of the cherries.
Palate
Lots of fresh cherries with sweetness and tartness in equal measure. Again a small amount of lemon line sneaks in there. Texture is velvety with a good body. Very good.
Finish
Medium to long with sweet cherries.
Rating: 6
Overall
A very good cherry brandy; I’d recommend this. Has decent oomph with a clean, fresh taste. That captures the sweet and tart nature of the cherries.
