Beren’s Old Fashioned Brandy

About the Producer

Berens is a brandy put out by Dancing Goat out of Cambridge, WI. Dancing Goat is a decent size operation founded in 2015, that is mostly known for putting out unique blends and finishes of sourced MGP whiskey including whiskey aged in used barrels; a rarity in American whiskey.

There are very few details available on what this brandy actually is; my guess would be column still distillate sourced from one of the big players in CA like Vie-Del or O’Niell and then aged in their own ex-whiskey barrels. In addition to Beren’s Dancing Goat also puts out another brandy under it’s own name that’s less expensive.

Nose

Sweet and fruity but a little artificial, like green apple candy. Traces of bubble gum. Not bad but not a lot going on and a little light.

Palate

Very light. Traces of green apple candy, bubble gum and molasses. Surpisingly balanced, I think because the flavors are so light. Light bodied. Again not bad just not much happening.

Finish

Very short with some sweetness.

Rating: 4

Overall

Not bad but I wouldn’t get it again. It’s inoffensive but just too light and immature. No real reason to buy this since there are better options for the same price; I would recommend either Argonaut Saloon Strength or Sacred Bond over this. Not much else to say
