Flag Hill Josiah Bartlett Apple Brandy

About the Producer

Flag Hill is a winery and distillery that in Lee, NH that releaed it’s first products in 1996. It’s the largest and second oldest winery in NH and I believe the oldest distillery in the state as well. The distillery primarily focuses on whiskey with bourbon rye and a unique breakfast bourbon made with chocolate malt and oats. In addition to those and other standard products they have this apple brandy. I haven’t heard good things about Flag Hill but this was on sale for $15 so I decided to pull the trigger.

Nose

Green sour apple with some lemon juice. Some off putting wet sawdust flavor and tastes like the apples are overripe. Lacks balance. Not a good nose.

Palate

Very funky fruit. Harsh. The wet sawdust flavor comes back again. Astringent and tannic. Tart. Imbalanced.

Finish

Medium and unpleasant

Rating: 3
