Beaver Pond Aged Peach Brandy

About the Producer

Beaver Pond is a small distillery from central Massachusetts that specializes in producing brandy especially unaged eau-de-vie and aged apple, grape and peach brandies. There aren’t many details on the distillery out there and it doesn’t look like they typically allow visitors. What I did find out is that they source the majority of their fruit from MA with some, like apricot and cherries, from upstate NY. The distillery was started and is operated by a guy named Jerry Friedman, a former immigration lawyer who started the distillery as a second career.

I’ve reviewed several of their products before including the unaged peach and been very positive on them.

Details

  • Aged in used American white oak barrels for 2yrs.
  • Made from MA peaches.
  • Distilled on 50 gal pot still from Germany.
  • 40% abv.

Nose

Excellent aroma. Peach pie. Cinnamon and oak with a small trace of chalkiness to add complexity. Good balance between the fruit and barrel character. Medium sweet with peach syrup.

Palate

Delicate but not too light. Peach bakes goods and vanilla ice cream. Small amounts of baking spices, oak and almonds. Medium bodied and decent texture. I enjoy it quite a bit.

Finish

Short to medium. Longer than I expected given the low proof. Sweet with peaches.

Rating: 6

Overall

It’s a complex but subtle spirit; I like it but I want a bit more oomph out of it. I think the aging kicks this up a notch vs the unaged version.
