About the Producer
This cherry brandy comes from the producer Maison Trimbach from Ribeauville from the Alsace region of France right near the boarder with Germany. Trimbach is a well known winery that’s known for it’s Riesling and other white wines. Not much of a wine person myself but they have a whole range of eau-de-vie including cherry, raspberry, pear, and plum brandies for reasonable prices; $21 for a 375ml bottle by me. I’ve had a good experience with their brandies in the past so today I’m reviewing their cherry brandy.
Details
- Distilled Alsace cherries
- 45% abv.
- Not oak aged. Aged for 16mo in stainless steal
Nose
Cherry obviously. Medium sweet and a little tart. Hint of 7up. A little restrained for 45% but well balanced and nothing off putting.
Palate
Again tart cherry and lemon lime soda. Medium body and weight. Medium sweet. Decent texture but nothing exceptional. Well balanced but not super exciting.
Finish
Short to medium with sweet cherries.

Overall
A completely competent cherry brandy but nothing too exciting. Get if you want a good, well balanced cherry brandy at a reasonable price but don’t expect it to know your socks off.
