About the producer
This brandy comes from the producer Maison Trimbach from Ribeauville from the Alsace region of France right near the boarder with Germany. Trimbach is a well known winery that’s known for it’s Riesling and other white wines. Not much of a wine person myself but they have a whole range of eau-de-vie including cherry, raspberry, pear, and plum brandies for reasonable prices; $21 for a 375ml bottle by me.
Details
• Doesn’t say if fermented from raspberries but it’s only $21 for a bottle so probably macerated.
• From Alsace region
• 45% abv.
• Not oak aged. Unknow if aged in stainless steel.
Nose
Raspberries but the flesh of the fruit. Dry, medium intensity. Baked or stewed fruit. Very good.
Palate
Meaty raspberries. Red wine. Quire good. Fairly dry. Heavy with good texture. No spiciness, astringency, or harshness. 45% is a good proof for this.
Finish
Medium with raspberries and red wine.
Rating: 6
Overall
A well executed eau-de-vie. Preserves the flavor of the fruit while having a good feel and texture. Recommended if you are in the market for raspberry brandy.
